Eulogy for the CCRA

Friends, CCUF, countrymen, lend me your ears;

Marc Antony
I come to bury the CCRA, not to praise it.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with the CCRA. The noble David and Dag
Hath told you the CCRA was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath the CCRA answer'd it.
Here, under leave of David and Dag and the rest--
For David and Dag are honourable men;
So are they all, all honourable men--
Come I to speak in the CCRA's funeral.
It was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But David and Dag say it was ambitious;
And David and Dag are honourable men.
the CCRA hath brought many captives home to the CCMC.

Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in the CCRA seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, the CCRA hath wept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet David and Dag say it was ambitious;
And David and Dag are honourable men.
You all did see that at the ICCC,
We twelve times presented kingly crowns in its name,
Eighteen hundred times accepted. Was this ambition?
Yet David and Dag say it was ambitious;
And, sure, they are honourable men.
I speak not to disprove what David and Dag spoke,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love the CCRA once, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then, to mourn for it?
O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
And men have lost their reason. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with the CCRA,
And I must pause till it come back to me.

  1. Very well done, but I am not sure most understand the significance of this simple bit of commentary....

    The real question is, how can we but snatch victory from the jaws of defeat?
