atsec attended the Omnisecure conference in Berlin

Like last year, three representatives of atsec Germany attended the Omnisecure conference from May 22 through 24, 2023, in Berlin.

The Omnisecure conference has a clear focus on the German market and, in particular, national approvals of IT security products - one of the main business domains for atsec Germany. Therefore, there has been a strong presence of the Bundesamt fuer Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI). One of the main topics for this year's conference was a series of two sessions with multiple presentations about Secure Mobile Work with Classified Information. The first session focused on project Indigo, which resulted in a preliminary approval for handling restricted information natively on iOS, its impact on the German market, and future developments. The second session focused on ongoing work for a preliminary approval for an Android-based platform and its impact on the German market. Overall, it became clear that under the lead of BSI, a promising ecosystem is developing for secure mobile work with classified information with a lot of growth potential. Presentations have been provided by BSI, Materna Virtual Solution, Samsung Electronics, Secusmart, secunet security networks, and Wire Swiss in these sessions.

There have been also several sessions related to post-quantum cryptography including the challenges regarding integration of post-quantum crypto algorithms in existing secure communication protocols and the rollout into the governmental ecosystem.
Michael Vogel, Managing Director of atsec Germany, has provided a presentation together with Matthias Lange from Kernkonzept on the topic of secure development of open-source software with a focus on the development of the L4Re separation kernel developed by Kernkonzept and the activities performed by atsec on the related CC EAL4 evaluation at BSI. The presentation was perceived very well by the audience and triggered some interesting follow-up discussions.

The face-to-face conference allowed us to touch base with several of our customers in person again. This opportunity has been much appreciated by ourselves and many participants.
